Buccal Fat Excision
Buccal, or cheek, fat can create fullness and disharmony of the midface by giving a rounded appearance and blunting a sculpted and refined appearance of the cheekbones. For patients with overly round, full, or chubby cheeks, removing or reducing the buccal fat pads results in a more sculpted, refined facial appearance.
Buccal fat pads are encapsulated fat deposits located on either side of the face beneath and around the facial muscles. Buccal fat removal or reduction is performed from inside the mouth and does not result in visible scars on the face. Dr. Umstattd customizes the amount of fat removal to enhance your youthful facial contours and overall facial shape.
Buccal fat can be addressed in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation and optimization procedures. Depending on your goals and anatomy, the buccal fat can be reduced at the same time as your rhinoplasty, facelift, and other procedures.
