Brow Lift
As we age, the eyebrows descend, thin, and contribute to a more aged periocular look. The forehead skin thins, lines form across the forehead and in between the brows. Excess tissue sags over the eye and takes away from the bright, open-eyed look of youth.
There are different approaches to brow lifting, sometimes referred to as "eyebrow lift" or "forehead lift." Dr. Umstattd prefers to create incisions along the hairline. From there, the skin and soft tissues will be repositioned to establish a more youthful position of the eyebrows.
Typical goals for brow lifting include improving the laxity of skin, brightening the eyes, and giving you an overall more rested and refreshed look.
Lateral/Temporal Brow Lift
A temporal brow lift focuses on elevating the outer part of the brow. This is achieved through smaller incisions within the hairline to give the outer 1/3rd of the brow a subtle lift. Dr. Umstattd believes that cosmetic procedures should be carefully customized to suit each patient's needs individually.
Surgical Brow Lift vs. Botox Brow Lift
Facial enhancements can be achieved in a number of ways. It's important to understand your options, their risks, benefits, and intended outcomes. For those who want more extensive correction, a surgical brow lift can be a good choice. For those wanting more subtle brow lift and refinement, non-surgical procedures like a Botox brow lift can be a great options that yields natural and noticeable results.
Long-Term Brow Maintenance
There are strong muscles around the eyes and eyebrows that pull down on the brows and forehead as you animate. These muscles can pull down on your surgically lifted brows. In order to achieve optimal long term results, Dr. Umstattd typically recommends routine Botox injections around the eyes and eyebrows after surgical brow lifting.
